Jorge Grados, age 41, was arrested at his Hartford home on Monday, Nov. 21, for the incident that happened in Tolland County in March, Connecticut State Police said.

At about 2:20 p.m. on March 23, an individual reported to troopers that an infant had been wrapped in a towel and left on the hood of her parked vehicle in Mansfield, police said.

Witnesses performed lifesaving measures, and the baby was taken to an area hospital for treatment, authorities said.

The child was determined to be a premature baby boy who had been delivered within the previous 24 to 48 hours, police said.

State Police said Grados was identified as the suspect who abandoned the child after an investigation.

He was charged with risk of injury to minor and cruelty to persons, authorities reported.

His court date was set for Tuesday, Nov. 22, and he was held on $100,000 cash/surety bond, police said.
